The Pamela S. Bell Foundation invests in communities where access has always been hardest to come by, helping families reach the cancer care and support they need and giving young people a place that belongs to them.
What we do
The neighborhoods that go without cancer screening are usually the same ones that go without anywhere safe for young people to gather. Both gaps come from the same long shortage of investment, and both land hardest on families already carrying the most.
So we work on both. First Light and the Meridian Youth Program share a board, a set of values, and one commitment: to find what is hindering someone from receiving what they need, and to remove it.
Cancer Support Services
We help people in underserved communities get screened for breast cancer, removing the barriers that stand between them and an appointment they have been putting off. Screening is where we begin, and it is the foundation of a fuller program we are building toward.
Youth Development
We curate supervised, genuinely youth-owned social experiences where young people are seen, supported, and given room to become who they are. Meridian is built on the belief that the highest point a community can reach is defined by the young people it invests in.
Our story
Our mother, Pamela S. Bell, spent her life pouring into young people. She died of breast cancer in July 2021. This Foundation is what her children built to honor what she gave and to confront what took her.
Four assurances shape both programs.
The Pamela S. Bell Foundation was incorporated in Florida on June 17, 2026 and recognized as a 501(c)(3) public charity by the Internal Revenue Service on July 8, 2026. Our founding board includes legal, medical, financial, entrepreneurial, and education professionals, bringing direct professional experience to both First Light and the Meridian Youth Program.
Our first cancer screening event takes place in Jacksonville, Florida in October 2026, and our first Meridian youth event in Chicago during the 2026 - 2027 school year. Specific dates and venues will be announced as planning is finalized. Both programs are designed to expand to additional communities as need and capacity allow.
